It's time!!
You've been feeling those liaments and they seem to feel right, but it has been that way a week.

The birthing kit is in the stall and another night without a birth is going to make your stress and excitement level go over the top!
Hmm The first tell tale sign is mucous with this you know you are within a day to hours of the wonderous event, the birth! If you know your goat and it's temperament she will tell you with her body language that it is time. Remember goats are prey animals so they try to show no sign of weakness.

The next phase to look forward to is the beginning of contractions it is usually seen by the doe pawing at the bedding and not being able to get comfortable. Getting up and laying back down. Walking around and even calling out in a painful manner. She then lays down and usually starts with the hard contractions where the bubble of fluid appears.

Complications
Not something we want to talk about, but they happen. And yes they have happened to every breeder that has been doing it long enough. From the time the goat starts pushing until the first kid is delivered should be only 30 minutes. Now what do you do it this does not occur. You need to be prepared to act, because the time it takes to call the vet and get them to your barn you more than likely will have a life and death situation for the doe or the kids within. EDUCATE yourself ahead of time!!! Have the supplies you need and be prepared to act!!!
