This is my personal list of supplies that I like:
- Phone number of Vet
- Phone number of experienced goat birther in your near vacinity
- Ketone testing strips-to test for ketosis prior to birthing
- Puppy Piddle Pads are great for putting under the doe's to keep fluid collected and off of bedding, or to lay a newborn on to work on.
- Hand towels/wash clothes to grab the legs of baby goats
- Paper towels 2 rolls not just one
- Hair dryer to dry off and warm babies
- Navel dip (iodine surgical strength)
- Dental floss
- Bandage scissors
- Baby nasal aspirator
- Surgical Scrub to scrub down with followed by
- Lubricant before entering does vaginal tract.
- Flashlight
- Heating lamps strung from the ceiling to keep everyone warm the first couple of days.
- Large plastic trash bags to put all the trash in
- Mom's Reward (warm water with mollasses and Karo syrup) given after the kidding is done to refresh doe and get her strenght back
- Pritchard nipples with bottles and 3 cc syringes to start the bottle feeding process. (I have found that kids do not take immediately to a nipple, so I use a syringe without the needle to push a little milk down them for the first 24 hours, and then for some reason they usually start taking the nipple.
